February 19 (Wednesday): Deadline for receipt of applications for installations. Payment must be received with applications.
February 24 (Monday): Online registration ends at 12 p.m.
February 25 (Tuesday): Deadline for receipt of entries from Lana’i, Moloka’i, and Hana.
February 28 (Friday): Receiving Day at the MACC, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
March 1 (Sunday): Give Back Day at the MACC, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Entrants must be at least eighteen years of age and reside in Maui County at least four months each year. Be prepared to show identification and proof of residency on Receiving Day.
Art entries must be original and created within the last two years without supervision. Works may not have been previously exhibited in any juried exhibition. If selected for Art Maui, duplicate images (within an edition) may not be displayed, shown available for sale, or sold elsewhere until the current Art Maui exhibit closes.
ENTRY FEE: $25 non-refundable entry fee. Maximum 2 entries per person. No credit cards are accepted on Receiving Day. Pay online, or have cash/check on Receiving Day.
Works will be juried by an independent juror, and the decision of the juror is final.
Art Maui reserves the right to refuse any entry that presents excessive size, weight, or difficulty in presentation, or does not meet the guidelines.
All accepted artists must work at least one 3.5 hour shift of gallery-sitting during the Art Maui exhibit. Any artist who fails to fulfill this commitment will not be able to enter Art Maui the following year.
Accepted art will be photographed for publicity and/or educational purposes. All accepted art must remain on exhibition for the duration of the show unless disqualified.
All artists must sign the liability release. Although care will be taken, Art Maui and the MACC assume no responsibility for any loss or damage to art.
LANA’I, MOLOKA’I, and HANA APPLICANTS
Online entry, payment, and receipt of emailed photos must be done by Tuesday, February 25. Email two photos of each entry (minimum 2MB image with 2400 pixels on the longest side). Each image should be titled with the last name of the artist and the name of the artwork (ex:Baker.TropicalParadise). Email to firstname.lastname@example.org Notification will be made on Sunday, March 1st. Accepted work must be delivered by Tuesday, March 3.
PREPARATION OF ENTRIES
All entries must be finished and ready for display on Receiving Day. No wet works will be accepted.
TWO-DIMENSIONAL ART: maximum size is 84” x 144”. Artwork must have hanging wire securely attached. Sawtooth hangers are not allowed. Aluminum prints with factory installed hangers are allowed. Artist must provide a schematic and appropriate hanging materials for any artwork that has special hanging needs. Unframed canvas is permitted on paintings, provided the edges are painted. Multi-panel art is allowed, the maximum installed size is 84” x 144”. Multi-panel art must be delivered attached to a substrate that shows how it is to be displayed, and include a schematic. Multi-panel art will be juried and for sale as one piece.
ELECTRONIC/DIGITAL ART: must be operational with a single on/off switch. Art with audio must have headphones and volume control. Artists are responsible for providing and maintaining any peripheral devices during the exhibit. (electrical cords, tape, etc.)
SCULPTURE: Maximum base area of free-standing works is 60” x 84”. The maximum height is 15ft. Pieces weighing more than 50 pounds must be secured on a dolly provided by the artist and left on the dolly through the jurying process. Art Maui does not provide dollies.
INSTALLATION ART REQUIREMENTS
Installations are defined as works that require assembly by the artist after selection and before the exhibition. Installations will be juried based on the proposal submitted by mail or email. For each entry, the proposal must include a completed registration form and a $25 entry fee. A written descriptive statement. A photograph of the assembled piece. A drawn diagram. A list of all components.
Dimensions: maximum size- 6 ft wide x 6 ft deep x 10 ft high.
Proposals must be received by Wednesday, February 19th.

Proposals will not be returned to the artist. Artists whose proposal is selected will be notified to bring their work to the gallery for installation on Tuesday, March 3. Please do not bring it on Receiving Day. The piece must be installed by the artist and their own assistants, as shown in the original proposed state. Installation pieces must be disassembled by the artist on Saturday, April 4th.
SALES AND COMMISSIONS
Art Maui encourages artists to sell their work; the commission is 50/50 split of the price submitted by the artist. Art Maui collects General Excise Tax on every sale. Artists must complete a W-9 form furnished by Art Maui.
Art Maui will encourage the purchase of works throughout the exhibition, including the Purchase Pledge Preview Event. The Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts will also be invited to purchase works from the exhibition.
When pricing your artwork please take into consideration that art sales are our primary source for sustainability. Consider the fair market value of your piece while pricing.
